Without voidfill, products shift during transit ... and shifting leads to damage. At Box Depot, we stock a range of voidfill packaging materials to keep your products exactly where you put them, from the moment you seal the box to the moment it's opened.

Voidfill vs Protective Packaging - What's the Difference?

It's worth understanding the distinction, because they serve different purposes:

  • Voidfill fills the gaps and empty spaces inside a box, preventing contents from moving or shifting during transport. It is not designed to absorb impact or protect fragile items from crushing or dropping.
  • Protective packaging (such as bubble wrap or foam) is designed to absorb shocks, cushion impacts, and protect fragile items from breaking. It wraps around the item itself.

For fragile items, you'll often need both - protective packaging around the item, and voidfill to stop it moving inside the box.
