Moving House is stressful.
But you’ve got this far and you’re ready to actually start packing up your belongings! Often, though, the kitchen is the most daunting room of the house … there’s just so much stuff!
We hope these tips will help to organise your kitchen move a little better.
These days they’re an absolute necessity. And chances are that if you’re moving house, the corner where the computer sits is going to have to be dismantled … and all those wires sorted out (sigh!)
You might think it will take ages, and yes it probably will. But once you just do it, you’ll be glad that you did!
Moving house is stressful enough, but it’s even harder on our pets when they don’t understand why they’re being moved!
Changing address can often lead to pets going missing (in search of their previous home) or behavioural problems, and sometimes even ill health.
But there are a few steps you can take to make the move easier for your pet
Moving house is stressful.
Whether you are moving by choice, or forced by change of circumstances, or forced to make the move, moving house is stressful!
But you’ve made the decision now and narrowed down the list of potential new homes.
Now comes the hard bit … telling the kids!
After a hugely hectic six days, you’ve finally made it to Moving Day. Congratulations!
But you haven’t quite crossed the Finish Line just yet.
Today you’ll be busy from the moment you wake up until you get to bed in your new home!
So here’s what to expect on the final day, including stuff you’ll need to do to ensure a smooth Moving Day…
By Day 6 you’re exhausted, stressed, and no doubt panicked.
While you really only have 1 full day left to pack the rest of your stuff, hopefully by now you’ll see that you’re almost ready to go.
Today is the day to concentrate on all the last minute things – like clearing out the fridge, getting your essentials together and taking apart all the furniture.
Let’s get started!
Day 5 means that you only have a few days left before Moving Day (eek!)
While you’re probably feeling tired and wishing your move was over already, if you look back over the last 4 days, you’ll see that you’ve accomplished loads already and packed the majority of your household space.
So for today, we’ll concentrate on storage – extra wardrobes, garages, attics, and everything in between!
And we’re on to Day 4.
By now you’re probably getting tired and frustrated and wishing that all these moving boxes would just go away!
But just remember, you’re halfway there now!
You’ve got through the hardest part and now there’s just a few last tasks to get done!
By Day 3, chances are you’re feeling tired and stressed.
But you got loads done on Day 2 so you should be feeling proud of yourself.
So take a quick breather, make sure you’re getting enough sleep and you’re eating (relatively!) healthy; and stick the kettle on for another cuppa before we get stuck into Day 3
You have a week or less to move house.
And you’re a panicking wreck, aren’t you?!
Except you’re not, as you have followed our “How to move in a week or less” advice and already already have everything done from Day 1
So on to Day 2 …
Joy of joys!
Not only have you found your new home, but you’ve managed to sell your old home … result!!
But the prospective new owners want to move in next week
Eek! Don’t panic. It can be done with a little bit of concentrated organisation …
When is a box a box? And when is it not a box?!
Here at Box Depot we sell recycled cardboard boxes.
Many people assume that "used boxes" or "recycled boxes" are those piles of boxes you see outside shops of an evening, waiting on the binman to collect.
But it takes a lot for those boxes to have got into that state ...
Let's face it. Packing is a big task!
There is nothing easy about taking everything you own and putting it safely into boxes.
Packing is also deceiving ... it always feels like it's going to take a lot less time than it really does.
Having said that, if you are having trouble getting yourself to start packing, you are not along. Many of us struggle with motivation. But since your move is happening anyway, you may as well save yourself as much stress as possible and get started sooner rather than later!
